Learners are innovative thinkers who are successful, confident, respectful and caring

Principal's Message

Welcome to Immanuel Christian Elementary School (ICES)!  ICES is an alternative Christian school program within the Lethbridge School Division and is a member of the Prairie Centre for Christian Education (PCCE). In addition to the division priorities of achievement, inclusion, and innovation, the Christian worldview is foundational for the programing offered at ICES as we seek to support all learners and celebrate their growth. To parents who continue to choose us, we are grateful for your support.  For parents that are new to our school, we are excited for your family to join us!  To parents who are undecided, we invite you check us out and see how we can walk with your family on your elementary journey!

At ICES our goal is to offer a quality, transformative Christian education. In addition to morning devotions, Bible classes, and chapels, Christian programming is embedded in the Teaching for Transformation (TfT) framework. Through TfT, we seek to help our students understand their part in God's story. Biblical through-lines (God worshippers, image bearers, community builders, servant workers, justice seekers, idolatry discerners, earth keepers, order discovers, beauty creators and creation enjoyers) provide a Christian worldview lens as these are woven throughout the Alberta curriculum. Additionally, teachers' deep hopes and classroom storylines provide unique lenses within each classroom.

An extension of the educational programming includes engaging students in Formative Learning Experiences (FLEx). FLEx provides opportunity for students to partner with groups outside of our school community, in local and global contexts, for the dual purposes of learning and serving.

The school's mission statement, "To provide a Christian environment in which God calls His children to develop and use their gifts for joyful service in his kingdom"  prioritizes the need for students to understand their learning in the context of participation in God’s story. Furthermore, we want students to recognize that part of their calling is being vessels for Him to bring healing and peace to our world. As an extension of this calling, the collective ICES Deep Hope of: Equipping Learners, Nurturing Faith, Flourishing in Community speaks to the Head (learning), Heart (growing), Hands (serving) aspects of Christian education.

On behalf of all of our school staff, I want to express how grateful we are to be a part of your family’s educational journey.  As we reflect on God’s great love reflected through the scriptures in Isaiah 40:30-31 we read, “ Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”  May we continue to instill the need to rely on God’s everlasting, never-ending love now and forever more.

Sincerely,
Barbi Wall
